Washington, Mar 6: US President Donald Trump has said the United States will focus on defeating Iran first before turning its attention to Cuba, describing action on the Caribbean island as “just a question of time.”
Speaking at the White House during an event celebrating Major League Soccer champions Inter Miami, Trump said resolving the ongoing conflict with Iran remains the immediate priority for Washington.
“We want to finish this one first,” Trump said, referring to the Iran war, while suggesting that the US could later shift its focus to Cuba. He also claimed that Havana is eager to negotiate with Washington.
Trump further asserted that US and Israeli forces were making strong progress in the conflict with Iran and said the situation in the Middle East remains the administration’s main focus for now.
His remarks signal that once the Iran conflict stabilises, US policy attention could move toward Cuba amid growing tensions and economic pressure on the island.
