In a bid to bolster organisational structure ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Vijay, president of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), has announced the formation of a new coordination committee specifically for the party’s women’s wing.
In an official statement released on March 6, 2026, Vijay said the committee has been constituted to strengthen the party’s women’s team and improve its grassroots reach across the state. The panel will be headed by Spurthi Arun, who has been appointed as the coordinator, along with 10 members tasked with expanding and consolidating TVK’s engagement with women voters and supporters.
According to the announcement, the coordination committee will operate under the guidance of TVK’s General Secretary Anand and the party’s executive body. It will play an active role in planning, mobilising and executing women‑focused initiatives as part of TVK’s broader political strategy.
The move reflects the party’s push to build a stronger organisational base, particularly by empowering women within its ranks ahead of a highly competitive election season where mobilising diverse voter groups is seen as crucial.
Vijay’s announcement comes amid a flurry of political activity by TVK, including strategy meetings and preparations for manifesto releases, signalling an intensified organisational effort as the polls draw closer.
