PMK leader also criticises DMK government over drugs, liquor revenue and LPG price hike
PMK president Dr Anbumani Ramadoss on Tuesday alleged that some “traitors and DMK agents” had misled party founder Dr S. Ramadoss and created the current situation around him by influencing the veteran leader.
Anbumani made the remarks while addressing the state general council meeting of the Pattali Magalir Sangam held in Pallavaram, Chennai. The meeting was attended by Anbumani Ramadoss and Pasumai Thaayagam president Soumya Anbumani.
During the meeting, the council adopted nine resolutions on various issues, including women’s safety and what the party described as the failures of the ruling DMK government.
Addressing the gathering, Anbumani said several developments had taken place over the past six months and claimed that certain individuals had taken advantage of the current condition of the PMK founder.
He described Dr S. Ramadoss as a revered leader for party cadres and said there had been no change in the respect and regard party workers had for him.
Anbumani also criticised the DMK government, alleging that a “drug culture” had been spreading in Tamil Nadu and that the number of people consuming alcohol had increased in recent years.
He claimed that the state’s liquor revenue had risen from Rs 35,000 crore five years ago to around Rs 60,000 crore now.
The PMK leader further alleged that the government was distributing money through welfare schemes instead of focusing on long-term development measures such as creating employment opportunities for youth.
Referring to the recent LPG price hike, Anbumani said the DMK had promised during the Assembly elections that it would provide a Rs 100 subsidy per cylinder if voted to power and urged the government to implement the promise so that people could benefit.
