Donald Trump has announced a massive $300 billion oil refinery project in Texas, describing it as a historic investment aimed at boosting American energy production and creating thousands of jobs.
The refinery will be built at the Port of Brownsville in Texas and will become the first new oil refinery in the United States in nearly 50 years. The project is being developed by America First Refining with investment support from Reliance Industries.
Announcing the plan on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump called it “a historic $300 billion deal — the biggest in US history”, adding that the facility would strengthen US energy security, increase domestic fuel production and boost global exports.
The refinery is expected to generate thousands of jobs and significant economic activity in South Texas, while helping fuel American markets and expanding refining capacity. Trump also thanked India and Reliance for their support in the project, highlighting growing cooperation in the energy sector.
Construction of the refinery is expected to begin in 2026, and the project is being positioned as a major step toward strengthening the United States’ long-term energy infrastructure.
