Police have launched an investigation after a college student alleged harassment in Chennai, creating concern over student safety in the city.
According to reports, the student had come from Tiruchirappalli to Chennai for a project at the Central Leather Research Institute (CLRI). A group allegedly sent morphed obscene images to her mobile phone and threatened her.
The student claimed she was later forced into a car by the group outside the institute and subjected to harassment before being abandoned. She reportedly informed a male friend about the incident and subsequently filed a complaint with the police in Abhiramapuram.
Police have registered a case and launched a detailed investigation to verify the complaint and identify those involved. Authorities said further action will be taken based on the findings of the probe.
