Dhanush said he has “a lot to learn” from young filmmaker-actor Ken Karunaas while speaking at the pre-release event of the upcoming Tamil film Youth.
The grand event was attended by several film personalities, including acclaimed director Vetrimaaran, who joined Dhanush as chief guests. Ken Karunaas had earlier worked with them in the 2019 film Asuran.
During his speech, Dhanush shared memories from the time Ken was cast in Asuran. He admitted that he initially had doubts about whether Ken would suit the role and had even expressed this concern to director Vetrimaaran. However, the actor said Ken quickly proved him wrong with his performance.
Praising Ken’s growth over the years, Dhanush said the young filmmaker’s dedication and discipline impressed him deeply. He added that seeing Ken evolve into a director made him proud and that he personally had “a lot to learn” from his commitment and passion for cinema.
At the event, Dhanush also invited Ken and his team onto the stage and congratulated them on the film. He fondly referred to Ken by the name “Chidambaram,” recalling the character played by him in Asuran.
Youth, which marks Ken Karunaas’ directorial debut, features a youthful ensemble cast including actors such as Anishma Anilkumar, Devadarshini, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Priyanshi Yadav and others. The film’s music is composed by GV Prakash Kumar.
The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on March 19, 2026, and the pre-release event created significant buzz as members of the Tamil film industry came together to support the debut director.
