The Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam has released its election manifesto in Chennai, becoming one of the first parties to outline its agenda for the upcoming Assembly elections.
Party general secretary Vaiko unveiled the document, highlighting key issues such as state autonomy, minority welfare and protection of Cauvery water rights. The party strongly opposed the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code and pledged to safeguard religious and individual freedoms.
The manifesto also reiterated MDMK’s demand for exemption from NEET, stating that the exam affects reservation rights and opportunities for underprivileged students. It further warned of strong protests against Karnataka’s proposed Mekedatu dam, citing concerns over water scarcity impacting several districts, including Chennai.
Emphasising Dravidian principles and federalism, MDMK said it would continue to fight for greater powers for states and resist policies that undermine Tamil Nadu’s interests.
