V Senthilbalaji on Tuesday said he had provided “proper answers” to queries raised by the Central Bureau of Investigation during questioning in New Delhi in connection with the 2025 Karur stampede incident.
Speaking to reporters at the Chennai airport after returning from Delhi, the former Tamil Nadu Minister said he appeared before the agency as a witness and responded to questions related to the September 27, 2025 tragedy at a Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam rally, which claimed 41 lives.
“As someone who was present on the ground, I have answered all their questions appropriately,” he said, declining to elaborate further citing the ongoing investigation.
Senthilbalaji stated that the questioning lasted about 6.5 hours on March 17, during which officials sought clarifications on the sequence of events leading to the stampede.
He also dismissed suggestions that his summons to Delhi was politically motivated, asserting that it was his responsibility to cooperate and clarify doubts raised by the investigating agency.
