Nagercoil court receives fourth bomb threat

​For the fourth time in a single month, the Nagercoil District Court complex was plunged into chaos following an anonymous bomb threat. The threat, received via an encrypted email, claimed that explosives had been planted within the court buildings and would be detonated during peak hours. This recurring incident has led to severe disruptions in judicial proceedings and has raised serious questions about the security apparatus in the Kanyakumari district. ​Upon receiving the alert, the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) along with sniffer dogs conducted an exhaustive search of the premises. Litigants, lawyers, and staff were evacuated for several hours while the search was conducted. Although the threat was eventually declared a hoax—similar to the previous three instances—the repeated nature of these calls has created a sense of fear and frustration among the legal community, leading to calls for a permanent high-security detail at the court. ​The local police have registered a case and are working with the cyber-crime wing to trace the origin of the emails. Investigators believe that the threats might be a tactic used by certain elements to delay specific high-profile cases currently being heard in the court. Security has now been permanently beefed up, with mandatory baggage scanning and restricted entry points implemented to prevent any potential real-world threats.
