Beijing, Mar 28:
India-China relations are on a “correct path” of improvement, with shared interests outweighing differences, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Thursday.
Speaking during a farewell call with outgoing Indian Ambassador Pradeep Rawat, Wang highlighted that under the strategic guidance of leaders from both countries, ties have stabilized following the 2020 Galwan standoff.
Relations improved after meetings between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping at the 2024 BRICS summit in Kazan and the SCO summit in Tianjin.
Wang emphasized treating each other as partners rather than competitors, expanding mutually beneficial cooperation, and strengthening multilateral collaboration within mechanisms like BRICS.
He stressed that the modernization of India and China is crucial for global development. India will host the BRICS summit later this year, with Xi expected to attend, and Rawat will be succeeded by Vikram Doraiswami as ambassador.
