Vijay‑led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has once again approached the Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu, raising concerns about alleged lapses in election campaigning arrangements during the ongoing assembly poll season.
TVK submitted a formal complaint claiming a serious lapse in police deployment and traffic regulation for its campaign convoy in Chennai, asserting that inadequate security disrupted its movement and hindered outreach efforts.
The party urged the Chief Electoral Officer to intervene, ensure fair treatment, and address what it described as unequal enforcement of campaign permissions, especially in comparison with other parties.
TVK alleged that absence of basic support from authorities brought its scheduled movement to a standstill, compromising both safety and legitimate campaigning.
The development comes as TVK is actively contesting the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, with Vijay launching his campaign and filing nominations from Perambur and Tiruchirappalli East constituencies. Political campaigning has intensified across the state, with multiple parties vying for voter support ahead of polling on April 23.
