The Delhi High Court has directed Rakshit Shetty and Paramvah Studios to pay a total of ₹25 lakh for unauthorised use of songs in the film Bachelor Party. The court found them guilty of copyright infringement and disobedience of earlier orders.
Justice Tejas Karia ruled that even brief use of songs requires permission, rejecting the defence that the usage was minimal. The court noted that the songs were deliberately used to enhance the film’s narrative, making them ineligible for exceptions.
While the court refrained from imposing jail time, it ordered an additional ₹5 lakh penalty to purge contempt, after the filmmakers delayed compliance with earlier directions.
