DMK leader and Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin has declared relatively modest personal holdings in his election affidavit, with reports indicating that he has ₹50,000 in cash reserves and no ancestral property in his name.
The disclosure has drawn attention in the ongoing election season, where asset declarations of candidates are under scrutiny. While Udhayanidhi comes from a prominent political family, his affidavit suggests that his personal financial profile is largely based on self-acquired assets rather than inherited wealth.
Such declarations are part of mandatory filings before elections, offering transparency into a candidate’s financial background, including movable and immovable assets, liabilities, and sources of income.
In contrast to some high-value declarations seen in recent filings, Udhayanidhi’s affidavit reflects a comparatively simple cash holding component, with no mention of ancestral property ownership.
