Chennai, Apr 3:
The Indian National Congress has announced of 27 candidates for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, as part of the DMK-led alliance.
From northern and central regions, the party has fielded Durai Chandrasekar from Ponneri (SC), JMH Aassan Maulaana from Velachery, and Tamil Nadu Congress Committee chief K. Selvaperunthagai from Sriperumbudur (SC). A.M. Munirathinam will contest from Sholingur, R. Kuppu Saamy from Uthangarai (SC), and Dr. A. Chella Kumar from Krishnagiri.
GKM Tamil Kumaran has been named for Pennagaram, while S.K. Arthanari will contest from Attur (SC). Gopinath Palaniyappan has been fielded from Erode (East), B. Ramachandran from Udhagamandalam, and K.P. Surya Prakash from Kavundampalayam.
In western and central belts, Ms. V. Shrinithi Naidu will contest from Singanallur, M. Vichu Lenin Prasath from Thuraiyur (SC), and A.S. Chandrasekaran from Cuddalore. Jamal Yunus Mohammed has been named for Mayiladuthurai, while T. Rama Chandhiran will contest from Aranthangi and S. Mangudi from Karaikudi. T. Saravana Kumar has been fielded from Usilampatti, Ganesan Ashokan from Sivakasi, and Rama Karumanickam from Tiruvadana.
In the southern districts, S. Oorvashi Amirtharaj will contest from Srivaikuntam, Sangai Ganeshan from Sankarankovil (SC), and V.P. Durai from Ambasamudram. Ruby Manoharan has been named for Nanguneri, Dr. Tharagai Cuthbert for Colachel, and T.T. Praveen for Vilavancode. Adv. S. Rajesh Kumar will contest from Killyoor, completing the party’s list of 27 candidates.
