Chennai, Apr 6:
In a significant push to improve recreational infrastructure in North Chennai, the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has announced plans to upgrade Manali Lake with modern public facilities.
The move follows the success of Madhavaram Lake, which has emerged as a popular destination due to its boating services and enhanced amenities, attracting large crowds, especially on weekends.
Encouraged by this response, authorities aim to develop Manali Lake into a similar eco-friendly recreational hub.
Proposed features include boating facilities, landscaped parks, walking tracks, seating areas, food stalls, improved lighting, and essential amenities such as toilets and safety measures.
The initiative is part of GCC’s broader plan to rejuvenate water bodies and transform them into vibrant public spaces.
Once completed, the upgraded Manali Lake is expected to boost tourism in North Chennai, enhance residents’ quality of life, and become a major leisure destination within the city.
