Chennai, Apr 11:
Cricket fans attending the IPL match at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai will be able to travel free on the Chennai Metro Rail network on Saturday, provided they hold valid match tickets.
According to official arrangements, spectators with IPL tickets—either digital or physical—can use them to avail free metro travel between any station in the city and the Government Estate Metro Station, which is the nearest station to the Chepauk stadium.
The facility allows one round trip, including entry and exit benefits linked to the match ticket QR code.
The initiative has been introduced by the Chennai Metro Rail Limited in coordination with IPL organisers to ensure smooth crowd movement and reduce traffic congestion around the stadium.
Special arrangements have also been made for extended metro services, with late-night trains scheduled to run after the match to accommodate returning spectators.
Officials said the move is aimed at encouraging the use of public transport on match days and providing hassle-free connectivity for thousands of cricket fans heading to the stadium.
The offer is valid only on the day of the IPL match and applies exclusively to ticket holders attending the game.
