The distribution of voter information slips (VIS) will begin in Chennai district from April 12 as part of preparations for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
According to officials, the exercise will be carried out from April 12 to April 18 across all 16 Assembly constituencies in the district. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will distribute the slips door-to-door to ensure that every registered voter receives their polling details.
Chennai district has a total electorate of over 28.9 lakh voters, with polling arrangements made at 4,085 booths spread across 975 locations.
Authorities said the voter information slip will include key details such as the voterâs serial number, polling station, and constituency, enabling electors to easily identify their designated booth on polling day.
Officials have also instructed BLOs to obtain acknowledgment from voters upon delivery and securely return any undistributed slips to election authorities.
The initiative is aimed at ensuring a smooth and hassle-free voting experience, ahead of polling scheduled on April 23.
