Chennai, Apr 16:

Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) will operate additional special bus services across the State from April 17 to 19 to manage the surge in passenger traffic during the weekend and ongoing summer holidays.

According to an official release, special services will be operated from Chennai and other key locations to meet increased travel demand.

From Kilambakkam, a major bus terminus in the city, special buses will be operated to several destinations including Tiruvannamalai, Tiruchy, Kumbakonam, Madurai, Tirunelveli, Nagercoil, Kanniyakumari, Thoothukudi, Coimbatore, Salem, Erode and Tiruppur. A total of 295 buses on April 17 and 310 buses on April 18 will be deployed from this terminal.

From Koyambedu, 55 special buses will operate on both days to destinations such as Tiruvannamalai, Nagapattinam, Velankanni, Hosur and Bengaluru. In addition, around 100 special buses will be run from cities including Bengaluru, Tiruppur, Erode and Coimbatore to various parts of the State.

From Madhavaram, 20 special buses will be operated on both days to ease congestion.

For return travel, the transport corporation has also arranged special services on Sunday, ensuring connectivity back to Chennai and Bengaluru as holidaymakers head back.

Officials said the move is aimed at ensuring smooth travel and reducing overcrowding in regular services during the peak holiday rush.
