Actor Ajith Kumar’s 2007 blockbuster Billa is all set to return to theatres on May 1, marking the star’s 55th birthday. The film has been upgraded with modern 4K technology and will be screened across nearly 150 theatres in Tamil Nadu, promising a nostalgic big-screen experience for fans.
Directed by Vishnuvardhan, Billa was a massive hit upon its original release nearly two decades ago. Though it was a remake of Rajinikanth’s 1980 classic of the same name, Ajith’s stylish portrayal and the film’s slick presentation gave it a unique identity. The film had also seen a successful re-release in 2021, underlining its enduring popularity.
The story features Ajith Kumar in a dual role—as dreaded don David Billa and his lookalike Saravana Velu. After Billa’s death, Velu is recruited to infiltrate the gang, leading to a gripping narrative filled with action, deception, and twists as he attempts to clear his name and dismantle the criminal network.
The film also stars Nayanthara and Namitha in key roles. Adding to its appeal is the iconic soundtrack by Yuvan Shankar Raja, with hit tracks like “My Name is Billa” and “Seval Kodi” continuing to resonate with audiences.
With its stylish action, memorable music, and Ajith’s charismatic performance, Billa remains a fan favorite—making this re-release a special treat for cinephiles and Thala fans alike.
