Chennai, Apr 22:

Ahead of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections on April 23, authorities have reiterated that mobile phones will not be allowed inside polling stations, as part of measures to ensure a free, fair and secure voting process.

To facilitate voters, a mobile deposit facility has been provided at polling stations across the State. Voters are advised to switch off their phones and deposit them at designated counters before entering the booths.
A token system will be followed, enabling voters to safely reclaim their devices after casting their votes.

Officials said the move is aimed at maintaining order and preventing any disruptions during polling, while also safeguarding the secrecy of the ballot.

Voters requiring assistance or clarification can contact the Toll-Free Voter Helpline at 1950.

Polling for the Assembly elections will be held on April 23, 2026, with elaborate arrangements in place to ensure smooth conduct across Tamil Nadu.
