Chennai, Apr 25:
Even as large parts of Tamil Nadu continue to reel under intense summer heat, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated a likelihood of rainfall in several regions of the state over the coming days.

According to weather assessments, light to moderate showers are expected at isolated places, particularly in districts along the Western Ghats, delta regions, and parts of south Tamil Nadu.

The rainfall activity is attributed to prevailing atmospheric conditions, including trough formations extending across peninsular India. These systems are expected to trigger localized showers accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in some areas.

Weather officials have noted that districts such as The Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Dindigul, Theni, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, and Kanyakumari are more likely to experience these spells of rain. Coastal regions may also witness brief showers, offering partial relief from the prevailing heat.

Despite the rainfall forecast, temperatures across Tamil Nadu remain significantly above normal, with several locations recording extreme heat levels exceeding 40°C. The combination of high humidity and rising temperatures continues to cause discomfort among residents, especially in urban centres like Chennai.

Meteorologists suggest that while the expected rainfall may not be widespread, it could help ease heat conditions temporarily in affected districts. However, the overall weather pattern for April indicates a mix of above-normal temperatures and intermittent rainfall activity across the state.

Authorities have advised the public to remain cautious, particularly during thunderstorms, and to take necessary precautions against heat-related illnesses as fluctuating weather conditions persist across Tamil Nadu.
