Chennai, Apr 29:
Vijay, chief of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, departed for Shirdi on Wednesday from his Neelankarai residence, taking a private flight from Chennai.
Following the recently concluded Tamil Nadu Assembly polls, the actor-politician has been on a spiritual tour. He had earlier visited the Tiruchendur Murugan Temple before returning to Chennai.
Continuing his temple visits, Vijay left from the city’s old airport terminal and is expected to offer prayers at the Shirdi Sai Baba Temple. He is likely to return to Chennai later in the night or early the next morning.
The visit comes amid a brief lull in political activity after the high-voltage single-phase polling across Tamil Nadu’s 234 constituencies. Several leaders have taken time off following intense campaigning, with Vijay opting for spiritual engagements.
Sources indicate that the TVK chief’s temple visits are part of a personal routine rather than a political programme, even as his movements continue to draw attention from supporters and party cadres across the state.
