Chennai, May 2:
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M K Stalin strongly criticised the BJP-led Union Government for hiking commercial LPG cylinder prices by nearly ₹1,000, urging it to immediately reverse the decision and safeguard people’s livelihoods.
Stating that the hike came right after the Assembly elections “as predicted,” he said the Centre must recognise the serious impact it would have on the public. He accused the government of failing to pass on the benefits of reduced global crude oil prices to consumers.
In a post on X, Mr Stalin said, “Act with the people’s pain in mind. As predicted, the Union BJP Government raised #LPGPrice the moment elections ended. When global crude prices fell, the benefit was not passed on to the people. Now, using the #WestAsiaWar crisis to raise prices, without regard for public welfare, is unacceptable.”
“Recognise the impact this #LPGPriceHike will unleash. Reverse it immediately. Protect livelihoods,” he added.
