Feb 4: In a major setback for the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, several senior leaders, including Chief Minister M. K. Stalin and Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, are trailing after the first two rounds of counting. Afternoon trends indicate that nearly 15 DMK ministers are behind in their respective constituencies. Key leaders such as K. N. Nehru, Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, and M. P. Swaminathan are among those facing tough contests. Reports also suggest that only three ministers are currently leading.

The developments come as a shock for the DMK, with the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam gaining significant ground and leading in multiple constituencies across the state. Election officials reiterated that these are still early trends based on initial rounds of counting, and the final outcome will depend on subsequent rounds as EVM votes are fully tallied.
