Chennai, May 5:
Amid surging public enthusiasm following the impressive electoral performance of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), security has been significantly tightened around the residence of party leader Vijay in the city.
Police personnel have been deployed in large numbers outside his Neelankarai residence along the East Coast Road, with barricades erected to regulate the movement of supporters and the general public. Entry into key stretches surrounding the residence has been restricted as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order.
The heightened security comes in the wake of continuous gatherings of party cadres and fans, who have been assembling in large numbers to celebrate TVK’s strong showing in the Assembly elections. Slogans, drum beats, and festive scenes have marked the area since early morning, prompting authorities to step up surveillance and crowd control.
Senior police officials said the arrangements are purely preventive in nature, aimed at ensuring the safety of the leader and preventing any untoward incidents amid the charged political atmosphere.
Security measures include intensified patrolling, monitoring through surveillance systems, and deployment of additional forces at strategic points. Traffic diversions have also been put in place in parts of East Coast Road to ease congestion.
With Vijay emerging as a key political force in the State, authorities are maintaining a close watch on developments, even as celebrations continue among supporters.
