Puducherry, May 6:
Puducherry Chief minister and AINRC Founder-President NÂ Rangasamy was on Tuesday elected as the Legislature Party Leader and he would meet the Lt Governor and stake his claim to form the NDA government 2.0 headed by him.
Rangasamy was elected as the LP leader at a meeting of the party MLAs here.
Armed with the resolution adopted at the meeting electing him as the LP leader, he would soon meet him and stake his claim to form the government for a second successive term.
Meanwhile, reports said arrangements were being made for the swearing in ceremony of his new government to take place in the coming days and top National BJP leaders are likely to attend it.
The AINRC heading the NDA that also comprised AIADMK and LJK, won 12 seats in the April 9 elections held to constitute the next 30-member Territorial Assembly.
After the declaration of results, the AINRCÂ MLAs met at a private hotel and unanimously elected Mr Rangasamy as the LP leader of the party and also signed the letter in this regard.
Meanwhile, Rangasamy said that he is committed to make Puducherry a developed one.
In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said “at a time when we are assuming office for the second successive term,we are committed to fulfill the expectations of the people of Puducherry and to make a developed Puducherry to support his(PMâs) long term vision for a developed India.”
It may be noted that the Prime Minister had greeted him for the leading NDA’s victory. In response to it, in a letter thanked Mr.Modi and said this magnificent verdict of the people is a recognition for his (Modiâs) leadership and the double engine governance system here.
The people of Puducherry had given a clear verdict, Mr Rangasamy said, adding, he dedicated this victory to each and every citizen who reposed faith in the growth, transparency and development and the achievements of the NDA.
“With your guidance, we were able to implement people welfare schemes and infrastructure development in the last five years”, he added.
