Chennai,  May 7:

R. S. Bharathi on Wednesday said the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam was unconcerned about the Indian National Congress leaving the DMK-led alliance and extending support to Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam.
Responding to reporters, Bharathi claimed that DMK cadre had welcomed the Congress decision. “DMK cadres are receiving this happily. We have absolutely no worries about Congress leaving our alliance,” he said.
Asked whether Rahul Gandhi or the Congress leadership had attempted to pacify the DMK leadership, Bharathi remarked that the party was not concerned about such developments.
“If they come, we will work with them; if they do not, we will continue without them. Even if Congress opposes us, we will politically oppose them and continue our political journey,” he said.
On concerns over the future of the INDIA bloc at the national level, Bharathi claimed the alliance had effectively ceased to exist after the Lok Sabha elections. Referring to leaders such as Nitish Kumar and Mamata Banerjee moving away from the coalition, he said the DMK had remained isolated within the alliance structure.
“We thank them for being with us, and if the ungrateful want to leave, let them go,” Bharathi added.
