Chennai, May 7:
Archana Patnaik on Thursday submitted the official list of 234 newly elected MLAs from the recently concluded Tamil Nadu Assembly Election 2026 to Governor R. N. Ravi at Raj Bhavan.
According to the final election results, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam emerged as the single largest party in the 234-member Assembly with 108 seats. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam-led alliance secured 73 seats, while the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam alliance won 53 seats.
Despite emerging as the largest party, TVK remains short of the majority mark required to form the government in Tamil Nadu. Political discussions and negotiations are currently underway as the party seeks additional support from other political formations.
Officials said Archana Patnaik formally handed over the list of all elected representatives to the Governor following the completion of the election process, marking a key constitutional step in the formation of the next government in the State.
Political observers are closely monitoring the ongoing alliance talks as uncertainty continues over which formation will eventually secure enough support to stake claim to form the government.
