Chennai, May 7:
Signs of internal dissent have emerged within the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee after student wing secretary Dayanand Karthik resigned from his post protesting the partyâs decision to support Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam led by C Joseph Vijay.
In his resignation statement, Karthik criticised the Congress leadership for aligning with TVK, arguing that the move for short-term political gains compromised the partyâs ideological commitments and alliance principles.
âAbandoning an alliance for the sake of power, without any sense of responsibility, is not the right approach. This is not politics,â he said.
The resignation comes amid growing debate within Congress ranks over the partyâs changing alliance strategy following the Tamil Nadu Assembly election results.
Political observers say the development reflects unease among sections of the cadre, particularly within the youth and student wings, and could pose organisational challenges for the party in the coming months.
