The makers of Karuppu, starring Suriya, have unveiled the film’s official trailer, offering a gripping glimpse into a story that blends courtroom drama with divine intervention. Directed by RJ Balaji, the film is slated for a theatrical release on May 14.
The trailer opens on an emotional note, introducing a struggling father-daughter duo played by Indrans and Anagha Maya Ravi. Their legal battle drags endlessly, hampered by systemic delays and the manipulative tactics of lawyer Baby Kannan, portrayed by RJ Balaji in a striking antagonist role. As hope fades, the duo surrenders their fate to divine will.
Enter Saravanan, played by Suriya, who steps in to fight their case. The trailer teases his character as a possible incarnation of Karuppusamy, symbolising justice delivered with divine fury. Supporting him is Preethi, a determined lawyer played by Trisha Krishnan, who shares a history of confrontation with Baby Kannan.
Karuppu marks RJ Balaji’s first solo directorial venture after Mookuthi Amman (2020), which he co-directed with NJ Saravanan. The film boasts a strong supporting cast including Natty Natraj as a judge, alongside Mansoor Ali Khan, George Maryan, Swasika, Sshivadha, and Supreeth Reddy.
Music for the film is composed by Sai Abhyankkar, marking his second Tamil project after Dude (2025). The film’s lyrics are penned by a team including Pa Vijay, Vivek, Vishnu Edavan, Asal Kolaar, Adesh Krishna, and Arun Srinivasan.
On the technical front, Karuppu features cinematography by GK Vishnu, editing by R Kalaivanan, production design by Arun Venjaramoodu, and action choreography by Anbariv and Vikram Mor. The film is produced by SR Prakash Babu and SR Prabu under the banner of Dream Warrior Pictures.
With its blend of social justice, mythology, and high-octane action, Karuppu promises to deliver a powerful cinematic experience when it hits theatres this week.
