Chennai, May 14:
The much-anticipated Teynampet–Saidapet steel flyover project on Anna Salai is progressing at a fast pace and is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion along one of the city’s busiest arterial roads.
The project, aimed at improving vehicular movement between Teynampet and Saidapet, has reached an advanced stage of construction, with ongoing structural work moving steadily. Once completed, the flyover is expected to reduce bottlenecks on Anna Salai, which often experiences heavy peak-hour traffic.
Officials say the steel flyover is part of broader efforts to improve Chennai’s urban road infrastructure and ensure smoother connectivity across key commercial and residential zones. The project is also expected to benefit daily commuters, including office-goers and public transport users, by reducing travel time.
Authorities are optimistic that the flyover will be opened in the coming months, depending on the completion of final works and safety clearances. The project is being closely monitored as part of the city’s ongoing infrastructure upgrades.
