Chennai, May 15:
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on Thursday held a series of high-level review meetings with senior officials, focusing on the functioning of the Finance and Industries departments shortly after assuming office.
During his interaction with Finance Department officials, the Chief Minister was briefed in detail on the State’s financial position, including revenue streams, expenditure commitments and debt obligations. The review comes in the backdrop of Vijay’s earlier announcement that the government would release a comprehensive white paper on Tamil Nadu’s finances, scrutinising the fiscal management of the previous administration.
Officials are understood to have presented a detailed snapshot of the State’s economic health, highlighting key challenges as well as immediate priorities for fiscal stability.
In a separate MEETING with the Industries Department, Vijay reviewed the status of ongoing and proposed industrial investments across the State. Discussions centred on accelerating project clearances, boosting investor confidence and enhancing Tamil Nadu’s position as a key manufacturing and investment hub.
The Chief Minister also sought updates on employment generation linked to new industrial projects, underlining the government’s focus on job creation alongside economic growth.
Senior bureaucrats from both departments participated in the meetings held at the State Secretariat, marking the beginning of an intensive administrative review process by the new government.
