Puducherry, May 16:
Anbazhagan, a legislator of AIADMK, which is an ally of the ruling AINRC-led NDA, was appointed as Pro-tem speaker of the Puducherry Territorial assembly.
Lt.Governor K Kailashnathan issued orders appointing Mr. Anbazhagan as the pro-tem speaker, and he would administer oath of office to him on May 18.
Upon his swearing in, Anbazhagan will administer the oath of office or affirmation to the newly elected MLAs in the Assembly on the same day, which would be followed by the election of the Speaker.
Anbazhagan, who is also the AIADMK State Secretary, was elected for the fifth time from Uppalam constituency.
It may be noted that the NDA headed by AINRC Founder-President N Rangasamy captured power in the UT for a second successive term with the AINRC winning 12, BJP 4,and AIADMK and LJK one each.
Rangasamy assumed office as Chief Minister for the fifth time on May 13. Namasivayam (BJP), who is also former Home Minister, and Malladi Krishna Rao (N R Congress) were also sworn in as Ministers along with Rangasamy.
