Chennai, May 16:
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay on Friday held a series of high-level meetings with leading industrialists and representatives of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), reinforcing the state’s push to position itself as a premier destination for manufacturing, electric mobility, and new-age investments.
The Chief Minister met senior executives from global and domestic firms including BMW Group India, India Yamaha Motor (IYM), and Tractors and Farm Equipment Limited (TAFE), along with a delegation from CII. The discussions focused on expansion plans, export growth, and strengthening Tamil Nadu’s industrial ecosystem.
During the interactions, Vijay assured industry leaders of the government’s full support, including faster approvals, simplified procedures, and improved investor facilitation mechanisms. He reiterated that Tamil Nadu would be developed as a preferred hub for electric vehicle manufacturing and next-generation mobility projects.
Key discussions also revolved around improving ease of doing business, attracting fresh investments, and expanding production capabilities across sectors. The Chief Minister reviewed ongoing operations and future plans of companies operating in the state and encouraged further investment in advanced manufacturing and EV infrastructure.
Representatives from BMW Group India briefed the Chief Minister on their current operations and electric mobility initiatives, while Yamaha and TAFE executives discussed expansion opportunities and export potential. Employment generation and skill development for youth were also highlighted as major priorities during the talks.
A separate meeting with the CII delegation, led by its southern region and Tamil Nadu leadership, focused on long-term policy stability, industrial reforms, and sustained government-industry collaboration. Industry representatives stressed the importance of a predictable policy environment to maintain Tamil Nadu’s competitive edge.
Officials said the consultations are part of the government’s broader strategy to accelerate industrial growth and strengthen Tamil Nadu’s position as one of India’s leading manufacturing and investment destinations.
