Chennai, May 19:

In a significant administrative overhaul, the Tamil Nadu government on Monday carried out a major bureaucratic reshuffle, appointing new heads to several key urban and infrastructure bodies, including the Greater Chennai Corporation, Metro Water, and the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA).

The move is seen as part of a broader effort to streamline governance and improve service delivery across departments
Among the prominent changes, GS Sameeran has been appointed as the new Commissioner of the Greater Chennai Corporation, replacing J Kumaragurubaran.

T Anand has been posted as the Managing Director of the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (Metro Water), taking over from TG Vinay. Meanwhile, AR Rahul Nadh has been named Member Secretary of the CMDA, succeeding G Prakash.
At the senior administrative level, Gagandeep Singh Bedi has been transferred and appointed as Additional Chief Secretary of the Municipal Administration and Water Supply Department, replacing D Karthikeyan.

P. Amudha has been moved to head the Cooperation, Food and Consumer Protection Department, while KS Palanisamy will now serve as Secretary of the Revenue and Disaster Management Department.
Further changes include the transfer of Satyabrata Sahoo as Principal Secretary to the Water Resources Department. Shunchonngam Jatak Chiru has been appointed Principal Secretary of the Public Works Department and given additional charge of the Natural Resources Department.

Anil Meshram has been posted as Principal Secretary, Energy Department.
In other appointments, M Vallalar has been named Secretary of the Transport Department, while Prashant M Wadnere has been posted as Secretary of the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department. GK Arun Sundar Thayalan has been appointed Inspector General of Registration.
At the departmental level, Dinesh Ponraj Oliver has been appointed Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board, replacing GS Sameeran.

M Aarthi will serve as Managing Director of the Tamil Nadu Corporation for Development of Women Limited, and G Lakshmipathy has been posted as Joint Secretary in the Finance Department.

The reshuffle, covering multiple senior IAS officers and key administrative posts, is expected to bring renewed focus and efficiency to governance, particularly in urban development, water management, and public service delivery sectors across the state.
