Chennai, May 20:
A fresh political controversy has surfaced in Tamil Nadu after CPM state secretary P. Shanmugam cautioned the ruling TVK government against accommodating AIADMK members in the Cabinet.
He asserted that if such a move is made, the CPM would be compelled to reconsider its support to the government, signalling potential strain within the alliance. The statement comes amid ongoing speculation over possible Cabinet expansion and the role of AIADMK rebels who had extended support to the government earlier.
Shanmugam added that including them in governance would contradict the mandate of the people and raise questions over political ethics. The development has added a new layer of uncertainty to the state’s political landscape, with the ruling dispensation expected to tread carefully to maintain its support base and avoid instability.
