A new rendition of Shri Venkatesa Suprabhatham featuring National Award-winning vocalist Uthara Unnikrishnan was released on May 20 across major digital streaming platforms. The lyric video of the devotional track is set to premiere on May 23 on the Rajshri Soul YouTube channel.
The Suprabhatham, a revered morning hymn dedicated to Lord Venkateswara, was immortalised by M.S. Subbulakshmi and continues to hold a special place in devotional music. The latest version seeks to present the timeless composition in a contemporary musical style while preserving its spiritual essence.
Originally composed in the 15th century by Prathivadhi Bhayankaram Annangaracharya, the new rendition features music by composer Prithvi Chandrashekar and is produced by Sandeep Reddy of Sea Records for Rajshri Soul.
Uthara Unnikrishnan, who rose to prominence with her playback debut “Azhage Azhage” from the film Saivam (2014), has since delivered notable songs including “Nadhi Pogum Koozhangal” from Pisasu. Known for her classical grounding and expressive vocals, she has received several accolades, including the Tamil Nadu State Film Award.
The release is expected to appeal to both traditional listeners and younger audiences, blending classical devotion with modern musical sensibilities.
