Chennai, May 30:
Amid the continuing political churn in Tamil Nadu following recent defections, AIADMK Rajya Sabha MP Inbathurai has launched a sharp attack on the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), accusing it of “poaching” leaders from his party.
Addressing reporters, Inbathurai questioned the ruling party’s actions, asking, “Why are you stealing sheep from the AIADMK fold?”—a remark aimed at highlighting what he alleged to be systematic attempts to lure party members.
He was reacting to statements from TVK leaders claiming that a large section of AIADMK members could soon join their party.
Dismissing such assertions, Inbathurai said the claims were exaggerated and described TVK’s electoral success as a “magic-like” or illusionary victory rather than a reflection of sustained public support.
The remarks come at a time when the AIADMK is grappling with internal strain and a series of defections. In recent days, multiple MLAs have either resigned or are reportedly in talks to switch allegiance to the ruling party, intensifying the political battle between the two sides.
