New Delhi, June 9:
The INDIA bloc meeting of Opposition parties concluded on Sunday with a broad consensus to strengthen unity and recalibrate both electoral and political strategies to mount a coordinated challenge against the BJP-led NDA government.
The alliance resolved to take up key issues including Special Intensive Revision (SIR), alleged irregularities in electoral rolls, NEET paper leak concerns, unemployment, inflation, and the broader economic situation.
A major decision taken during the meeting was to write to the Chief Justice of India expressing concerns over the SIR exercise and alleged manipulation of electoral processes, seeking intervention to ensure transparency and fairness.
The bloc also raised serious concerns over reported NEET paper leaks and mismanagement in the education system, demanding accountability from the Centre and intensifying calls for reforms.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge criticised the government’s handling of economic and foreign policy issues during the discussions, while leaders agreed on the need for sustained coordination.
It was also decided that INDIA bloc parties will meet every two months, with the next meeting scheduled in Hyderabad in August. During Parliament sessions, daily coordination meetings will be held under the leadership of the Opposition to ensure a unified approach.
The meeting was attended by leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav, Mamata Banerjee, Omar Abdullah and Supriya Sule. However, some parties, including AAP and DMK, stayed away from the meeting due to internal differences.
