Saudi Arabia and Uruguay will begin their 2026 FIFA World Cup campaigns when they meet in a crucial Group H encounter at Hard Rock Stadium.
The two sides are joined in the group by favourites Spain and tournament debutants Cape Verde, with the battle for a place in the knockout stages expected to be fiercely contested.Saudi Arabia have become familiar faces at the World Cup, qualifying for every tournament since 1994 except for the 2010 and 2014 editions.
However, the Green Falcons have progressed beyond the group stage only once, reaching the last 16 in 1994.Georgios Donisâ side head into the tournament after a mixed run of warm-up matches, drawing 0-0 with Senegal, beating Puerto Rico 1-0 and losing 2-1 to Ecuador.
Uruguay, meanwhile, remain one of the most storied nations in World Cup history, having lifted the trophy in 1930 and 1950 and reaching the semi-finals as recently as 2010.
