The story of “Nizhal” revolves around an incident where Janani brutally attacks Vijay Hari, the son of industrialist Sivan Srinivasan, and two of his friends, leaving them hospitalised. Shocked by the attack on her son, Vijay Hari’s mother requests a police officer to investigate the case. As the investigation progresses, several shocking truths connected to Janani’s past life come to light, along with the revelation of a deeper criminal conspiracy behind the incident.

Directed by A.K. Kumar, the film attempts to explore themes such as sexual violence against women, abuse of power by influential figures, and public trust in the justice system. While the intention is to address socially relevant issues, the narrative structure often feels stretched and resembles a television serial in its treatment, affecting the overall cinematic impact.

Janani, known for her Bigg Boss appearance, delivers a strong performance in a dual-shaded role, standing out as the film’s key highlight. Ramesh Khanna, Vishagan, Vijay Hari, and Sivan Srinivasan also perform their roles adequately, supporting the storyline.

On the technical side, Abubakar’s music is serviceable and blends with the narrative, while Mohan Kumar’s cinematography is decent and effective in parts, though not particularly striking.

Overall, “Nizhal” presents an important social theme wrapped in a crime-thriller format, but its execution and pacing limit its impact, making it feel more like a televised drama than a gripping theatrical experience.
