* Dismisses dynasty speculation in AIADMK

Chennai, June 19:

All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Thursday firmly ruled out any political role for his son Mithun Palaniswami, stating that he would neither be given a party post nor be actively involved in organisational responsibilities.

Speaking to reporters at the Assembly complex on the opening day of the session, Palaniswami said Mithun is only a primary member of the party and would not hold any position within the AIADMK structure.

The clarification comes amid internal discussions and speculation within party circles following remarks by deputy general secretary K.P. Munusamy, who had suggested that Mithun could contribute at a cadre level for organisational growth.

Palaniswami also responded to criticism of his leadership, asserting that electoral victories under his leadership demonstrated the effectiveness of his role and dismissing opposing remarks from within the party.

He further said that the AIADMK remains firmly committed to cadre-based functioning and would not encourage any form of dynastic politics, stressing that leadership positions are earned through dedication and party work over time.

Reiterating his stand, Palaniswami added that internal unity and discipline are essential for the party’s future growth, and urged leaders and functionaries to avoid unnecessary speculation that could distract from organisational priorities and public issues.

Chief Minister C.
