GCC Opens Free ITI Admissions for Youth; Apply by June 30

Chennai, June 19:

The Greater Chennai Corporation has invited applications for admission to its free Industrial Training Institute (ITI) courses for the current academic year, aiming to equip youth with job-ready technical skills and industry certifications.

Eligible candidates can apply on or before June 30, 2026, for six trades offered under the programme, including Electrician, Fitter, Plumber, Motor Mechanic Vehicle, Electronic Mechanic and Computer Operator and Programming Assistant (COPA).

The initiative provides National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) certification along with practical training, including internships with a monthly stipend ranging from ₹10,500 to ₹15,000 depending on placement companies.

Trainees will also receive a training stipend and additional government welfare benefits such as transport support, uniforms and educational assistance, making the programme more accessible to students from economically weaker backgrounds.
