London, June 22:

Marizanne Kapp’s brilliant unbeaten 81 guided South Africa to a six-wicket victory over India, handing them their first defeat in the Women’s T20 World Cup at Old Trafford.

Chasing 159, Kapp anchored the innings with a crucial 97-run partnership alongside Tazmin Brits after early strikes by India.

Earlier, India posted a competitive total with contributions from Harmanpreet Kaur (24) in her landmark 200th T20I and Deepti Sharma (29), but South Africa’s disciplined bowling kept the score in check.

Kapp’s all-round performance, including two wickets, proved decisive in sealing the win.
