Chennai, June 25:

In a significant administrative move aimed at strengthening law enforcement across the state, the Tamil Nadu government on Wednesday ordered the transfer of 15 police officers in the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP) and promoted five Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) to SP rank.

The reshuffle, which affects key postings in Chennai and several districts, reflects a strategic reorganisation within the police department, with a focus on urban policing, crime control, and administrative efficiency.

Among the prominent promotions, Kunal Uttam Shrote, who was serving as ASP in Ramanathapuram district, has been elevated to the rank of SP. He has now been appointed as Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Koyambedu, under the Greater Chennai Police.

Anshul Nagar, another ASP, has been promoted as SP and posted as DCP (West) in Tirunelveli city, while Akash Joshi takes charge as DCP, Tirupur (South) following his promotion.

Arpita Rajput has been elevated as SP and posted as SP, CB-CID (North Zone), a crucial wing handling sensitive investigations. Meanwhile, Banavath Aravind has been promoted and appointed as DCP, Tiruchy (North).

In Chennai city policing, A.C. Karthikeyan, who was serving as SP of Tiruvannamalai, has been transferred and posted as DCP, Adyar—one of the city’s important zones.

V.V. Geethanjali has been assigned as DCP of the Crime Against Women and Children wing in Chennai, a role that carries significant responsibility amid growing focus on gender-related crimes.

At the Tambaram Police Commissionerate, D. Kannan has been posted as DCP, Headquarters and Administration, while G. Stalin takes charge as DCP of the Central Crime Branch (CCB).

Further strengthening specialised units, A. Velmurugan has been appointed as SP, Modernisation at the Director General of Police’s office, indicating a push towards technological upgrades in policing.

D. Ramesh Babu has been posted as SP of the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in Chennai, a critical role in maintaining internal security.

In additional changes, P. Sundaravadivel has been appointed as DCP, Security, Chennai City Police, and K. Maheshwari has been posted as DCP, Red Hills, under the Avadi Police Commissionerate.
