Chennai, June 26:
Former Tamil Nadu minister E.V. Velu has alleged that the DVAC raids conducted at around 20 locations linked to him are a case of “political vendetta.”
The raids are based on allegations that during his tenure (2021–2026), funds worth ₹3.23 crore were misused in connection with a highways contract. Authorities have registered cases including conspiracy, fraud, and misuse of public funds, and reportedly seized documents and unaccounted cash.
Responding to the action, Velu denied all charges, calling the claims false and politically motivated. He also rejected reports of ₹40 lakh being seized and said he has moved court, asserting that he will prove his innocence legally.
The development has sparked fresh political debate in Tamil Nadu over whether the probe is genuine or driven by political rivalry.
