Chennai, June 26:
MDMK leader Vaiko on Thursday sharply criticised reports suggesting that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam may extend support to form an All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam government, calling it “the biggest political perfidy” if true.
Speaking in Madurai, the MDMK General Secretary said people’s welfare must take precedence over political alliances. His remarks come amid growing uncertainty within the DMK-led front, with key allies including the Left parties distancing themselves and extending support to the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam government led by Vijay.
Vaiko said the Chief Minister should be given time to govern, but remained non-committal on MDMK’s future in the alliance. A final decision is expected at the party’s General Council meeting on June 27.
With several partners exiting, the DMK faces increasing isolation, and the possible exit of MDMK could further weaken the already fractured opposition front in Tamil Nadu.
