Chennai, June 26:
DMK president M.K. Stalin on Thursday strongly condemned the searches conducted by the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) at the residence of former Minister and Tiruvannamalai South District Secretary E.V. Velu, terming the move an act of “political vendetta.”
In an official statement, Stalin said that Velu was fully cooperating with the DVAC officials and would face the legal proceedings in accordance with the law. He emphasized that such actions would not intimidate the party.
“The DMK is not a movement that can be threatened or weakened by such actions from the ruling party. We have faced even greater repression in the past and have overcome those challenges. We will overcome this as well,” Stalin stated.
Alleging that the searches were politically motivated, Stalin claimed that past corruption cases against DMK leaders had ultimately been proven false. He reiterated that the current action was driven by political motives rather than genuine concerns.
Reaffirming the party’s stand, Stalin asserted that the DMK would remain steadfast and would not be cowed down by such measures, maintaining its commitment to democratic principles and due process.
