Chief Minister Vijay asserted that there will be “no change and no compromise” when it comes to ensuring the safety of women and children, directing the police to take strict and punitive action against offenders.Addressing the first day of a two-day conference of District Collectors and police officers at the State Secretariat, the Chief Minister said the police department has been given full freedom to act firmly on crimes, strictly within the framework of law.
He emphasised that action must be swift, unbiased, and firm, irrespective of how influential themay be. At the same time, he cautioned that innocent people should not be affected under any circumstances and stressed that all those visiting police stations must be treated with dignity.
Reiterating that women’s safety must be ensured 100 per cent, Vijay called for strict and immediate action in cases involving crimes against women and children, including those under the POCSO Act. He also directed that schools must not suppress or delay complaints related to such offences.
