London, July 7:

In one of the most thrilling matches of Wimbledon 2026, Britain’s Arthur Fery produced a sensational comeback to defeat Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov in a five-set classic and book his place in the quarter-finals.

The 23-year-old wildcard triumphed 7-5, 3-6, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6, overcoming a two-sets-to-one deficit in a contest that lasted nearly four hours on Centre Court.

Fery, playing in front of a packed home crowd and tennis legend Roger Federer, displayed remarkable composure and resilience, particularly in the decisive fifth-set tie-break where he held his nerve to seal victory.

The British youngster’s victory is being hailed as one of the biggest upsets of the tournament, as he knocked out the vastly experienced Dimitrov, a former world No. 3 and Wimbledon semi-finalist.

Having dropped the second and third sets, Fery staged a spirited fightback, relying on aggressive serving and fearless shot-making to force a deciding set. He then produced his best tennis under pressure to clinch the match in dramatic fashion.

The win marks Fery’s first-ever Grand Slam quarter-final appearance, making him the last remaining British player in the singles draw and igniting hopes among home fans.

Fery’s remarkable run, having come from behind in multiple matches, continues to capture the imagination at Wimbledon, as the unseeded youngster now prepares for the biggest match of his career in the last eight.

With confidence soaring and crowd support firmly behind him, the British hopeful has emerged as one of the standout stories of this year’s Championships.
